I realize the US made GraBars have not been available for at least a few years now, looking for a pair of good ones. Not looking to save money, looking for the best of what is available. Seen them at Quadratec, Extreme Terrain. Summit and of course tons of cheap ones on Amazon. Don't want cheap junk. What about the Hooke Road ones? Which ones would you choose?

PS don't care for billet ones, just the standard padded bar.

I purchased the linked pair of Crown RT bars on Amazon last July, which ended up being (2) LH and no RH fitment. It took a couple of replacement orders returned at Amazon expense to receive the correct orientation but once installed, very pleased. For my 2005 with plastic trim panel extending up over the mounting area, it took a bit of measurement and " guesswork" to drill with hole saw where the bar tubing would protrude but I got it right the first time on both sides. With my TJ on 5.5" lift and with no steps, I utilize those grab bars every time I hoist my right leg up and into the cab. Very happy I did so, along with the usual rollbar grab loops...

I spent $30 on an Off-road pair on 3 different rigs and never had an issue. Sturdy. Helpful

OK, just now took a few representative after p-washing my TJ (monsoon rain + forest roads = mud splashed).

You'll see where later TJ/LJ models with the plastic a-pillar trim needs to be removed and clearance holes drilled with hole saw to allow the bars to pass through. The style @mudmaster linked on eBay wouldn't work, unless leaving those panels off plus lack the strength of welded bars, IMO. Those aren't GraBars in any case. My buddy's 03 TJ had genuine GraBars previously installed by a former owner, which are same style but not identical to the Crown RT bars I linked and installed on mine.

I had been leaning toward the Crown ones and I just ordered them. I ordered from Quadratec where they were $45 but after shipping they come to roughly the same price as Amazon, After reading about @DirtDawg 's Amazon adventure I though maybe I'd have better luck with Quadratec.

A previous order from Q-tech, likewise with incorrect contents (Omix sunvisors) was a major hassle to obtain an RMA with prepaid return shipping and subsequent refund. OTOH, Amazon Prime is so easy. Both issues (RT bars and Omix sunvisors) were Chinese mfr errors vs Amazon's fulfillment...

I realize most folks won't want to spend the coin on these... Only one other member I know of who admits to buying them.:cry:
I have the CMM OffRoad version. Rock solid. Zero issues.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that they have straightened it out. Reminds me of the time I bought a multi-pack of welding gloves at Harbor Freight and when I opened the package they were all left handed! When I went back to return them the manager got a good laugh.

I took a glue on spot mirror and made scavenged a plastic “L” off something and zip tied it to my Grabars for a doors off mirror- works well.

Man - install a quick release on those things and you have a set of brass knuckles...

@MikekiM

Those CMM Offroad are freaking awesome. The mirror addition is pretty cool too. I have some small, round mirrors attached to my $30 chinesium grabars, but the passenger side is always a bit frustrating to adjust and get to stay in place and be visible. This thread has given me some ideas. I may take a die grinder to the bracketry today to see if I can get them better.
