Why does my hood seem like it wants to come up while driving? It is an aftermarket hood but I find it hard to believe that's the problem. Could it be the hood hold downs from fender to hood? They are new replacement ones as well.

I used to have hood flutter with my stock hood, the hold downs looked good, but I couldn't figure what else it could be. So I went ahead and replaced the hold downs (the rubber pieces only, not the whole assemblies) with some upgraded Daystar and it solved the hood flutter problem.

As for the hold downs, isn't the whole thing rubber? Where do I buy Daystar?

The Daystar hold down replacement worked wonders on a previous JK, which had a lot more 'hood flutter' issues than the TJs.

The Daystar replacements did a good job on my flutter.

I did get the Daystar ones. Now my dilemma is when I pull the strap because it's so stiff and tight it is pulling the bolts plum out of the fender base piece it locks into. Anyone else experiencing this and if so, what did you do to correct that?

Has anyone experienced the base screws located in on the fender actually pulling out of the fender when you try strapping the Daystar latch to the base?

I replaced mine with a pair from Rugged Ridge when I replaced my fenders and they work well. I had to replace the complete assemblies though as I couldn't even get the old ones off of the rusted fenders.
