Host F550 4X4 Motorhome Quad Slide 330

Figured out I'd messed up on what I wanted to use as a trigger voltage for the camera when I was using the Upfitter switch..... the same trigger wire for the relay will power the camera.

Then I had to fish the wires over the top of the fuel tank.

Into the cab.

Also tied up some wires for the propane tank that were hanging down under the coach.

Last will be to split loom the wiring.

And tied the wires to the taillight wiring

Tomorrow I'll take the dash apart and get it hooked up.

After a number of times looking at threads and videos of where the Upfitter switch wires are located I finally found them. Switch 1 & 2 are for heavier loads so I used #3 switch for the rear camera circuit.

And it of course works when put into reverse. I even remembered to check before I closed everything up.

One of the questions I'd been asking myself about the coach was if I needed Lithium batteries or not.
Well last weekends camping trip answers that question.
Went to bed Wednesday night and woke up with the batteries @ 11 VDC. Forgot to check and turned on the coffee maker... That killed them. Only ran the generator for about an hour Thursday morning and then the batteries hadn't recovered by the time I'd come back to camp. Had to run the generator that night.
Yes I was parked in the trees so the solar panels weren't getting full sunlight.

Overall I'm happy with the coach. It tows the Jeep great and adding the other camera allows me to hook up to a trailer easily.

What's the internal square footage of that puppy with all the slides out?

Never measured it to try and figure it out.
But it's the size of a small apartment with the slides open.

Two extreme ends of the camping in the woods spectrum in one pic :D

Sweet F550 Host and a resurrected TJ tied to a tree with a hammock 😁

Yep, Mac likes his hammock.

JMT & PG slept in tents & bbaldwin237 slept in his truck.

Not sure which one of us was the most comfortable...

@lBasket ask the guys who were wheeling with me... They went inside it... They can give you a better perspective on size.

@JMT
@macleanflood
@PG.
Don't remember if @bbaldwin237 went inside or not.

I did. I'm not going to try and estimate square footage, but definitely had plenty of space for a family of 4 or so. And very nice. I forget that 2008 is 17 years ago. It definitely felt newer and more modern than that.

It's a LOT of rig for just me... Now if my dream/plan ever happens and I'm on the road 9 months out of the year it might seem less large then. I've still got some things I want to do to it.
Like I'd posted in Chris's thread about buying an RV I want to change my microwave/convection oven out for a microwave/air fryer. And as I'd said a few posts ago change the batteries out for Lithium 100 Amp/Hr. Now that they make them the same size as my 6 volt batteries IMO it's worth it.
Then in a few years take it to a shop I know of in Granite Falls who does solar builds. Add 2 more panels and add 4 more batteries at that time. Plus a new inverter that would power the whole coach. But all this is $$$$ so it'll take some time before it happens.

Was getting the motorhome ready this morning and had refilled the fresh water tank. After repairing the outside faucet on the house...
Then was cleaning the windshield since it's got hard water spots on it from the overhang and rain water dripping on it.

Then went to start it and the chassis batteries were dead 😑. And of course the leveling jack controls stopped working. Had to pull the panel apart to unplug and I guess reset it.

Drove into town and stopped by the rest area and dumped the holding tanks. Then went to the RV park in Cle Elum and filled the propane tank.

Back home and putting tools away in the garage. Plan on taking the Jeep out for a test drive later.

Do you use trickle chargers when the rig is parked?

During the winter I do but not during the summer when I'm using it. Not sure if something had gotten left on or what the deal was this time. But I'm going to throw may charger on it today and let it trickle until Saturday morning when I leave I think. It started when I stopped at the rest area and then in town @ the RV park. And they are "new" (18 month old) batteries from Les Schwab. First time I'd had issues with them since being replaced.

I suppose a ground leak is possible. You've done some wiring work recently, I think I recall?

Almost a month ago at this point. And it'd been parked for 3 weeks when I'd gotten back from the last run and then moved it when the water leak started. So I'd point more at I'd forgotten and left something on like the interior lights? But I've walked past it a number of times in the past 10 days at night and didn't notice them on.

Had to come inside a take a break for a while since my leg was hurting & it was a good thing I did. Pulled one of the scabs off with my liner. Leg is healing but not fast enough to make me happy.

And it never ends... I'll have to work on them when I get back... Went to pull out of my driveway and drug the steps... Had to back up and lubed them up but they aren't working correctly since I have to push them in the last little bit.
