How do I remove the mirrors from my 98 TJ?

I want to remove my factory mirrors from my 1998 tj since the ball socket has warn out and they won't stay set and replace them using the hinge loop where the factory mirror is installed. Do i need to remove the hinge to take the mirror out of the loop on the hinge?

No, if I remember correctly there is a bolt on the bottom of the bracket that will allow you to remove the mirror

Did you try tightening the set screws on the bottom side of the mirror? If that doesn't work, maybe try this?
