Igntion actuator and or ignition switch

My radio and blinkers will stop working at times. I jiggle the keys and all works fine. I have been putting of changing the ignition switch but haven't. Tonight while driving it happened again but with an added buzz under the glove box. This time jiggling the keys were a no go. I turned the heat off and no buzz. Turned the heat on and buzz is back. I pulled over and cut off the Jeep then cranked it back up. The buzz is gone but no radio or blinkers. Hazzard do work and fuses under glove look good. Changing the switch tomorrow but not the actuator. Any ideas or anything else I should consider?

I have been dealing with this kind of problem for 3 years now. Wiring harness!
MOPAR is SUBPAR.

Definitely sounds more like the ignition switch.

What about the ignition cylinder? Do the keys slide in and out in any position?

They can be pulled out while driving.

Sounds like ignition switch but my actuator was causing some weird problems with the key, shifter and accessories. I would get the actuator and switch so when you take it apart you have what’s needed worse case. I would inspect the ignition switch connector for signs of heat damage. You will need tamper proof torx to do the repair.

I would get the actuator and switch so when you take it apart you have what’s needed worse case. I would inspect the ignition switch connector for signs of heat damage. I have replaced everything but the key cylinder. Twice. I now have a push button on the dash.
Turn on the key and push the button, no problems anymore.
A "would be" thief might not figure it out before I get my .45 !

I think you just need the tamper proof T10, correct? Of course, you can buy the whole set, but not needed for this job.

I agree, get another actuator. I’ve almost bought one as a spare just because if it breaks it will leave you stranded. There’s some kind of screwdriver trick, but do you have one and do you know the trick. Yours sounds like it’s not the actuator because they won’t even start if broke.

The torx you can’t buy one for the price of that set, buy 2 sets throw one in the Jeep.
If you take the ignition switch off the column you should be able to rotate it to start the vehicle then just remove the metal lock part from the actuator and drive it home.

Yes, get 2 actuators. Mine broke the day after an off road trip. I keep a spare in my Jeep now, along with a couple of those security torx bits.

I don’t know what the little piece is called, but there is a tiny little metal piece under a cover on the actuator. Don’t lose it.

It might just be on the automatics with a shift interlock cable.
