I'm so mad I could spit (underhood light)

I followed another person on this board. He had an excellent write up to install the GM reel light under the hood. In my case, I left the original light which still works and then added the reel light on the center support of the hood. I’m happy with it.

That hood light drove me nuts for a while. I gave up on it.

I've got one of these in my Jeep. It has a pretty powerful magnet in it — and you can move it around!

thats exactly what it is. i took the switch apart and the positive spring connector has an enclosed metal bulb with Mercury in it and when its up its on and down its off. very efficient . but dang figuring that out the hard way was hilarious. the dang thang would work upside down but not upright. so its all good now. ill send a picture.

Upside down or upright....?!?!?, it must have seemed peculiar to figure out! Sounds like something I would have reverse engineered like you did! Lol!
