I would love to hear you opinion with a problem I’m having on the distributor.
I have just rebuild a complete engine of the 2.5 98 TJ, and I’m doing it all by myself, I ordered a rebuild kit from titanengines including new camshaft….
Here’s the problem I’m just finishing up with the build when I try to put the distributor just as I saw on many videos and on the FSM, but the distributor won’t line up, I quite sure the timing is ok and that the sprockets where lined up, but when I try to install the distributor it overturns a bit, like if it was a tooth over… I’m starting to think that the camshaft might be from a yj and not a tj…
Anyone ran into a similar problem with a complete rebuild?

Here are some pics of the rebuild

Yeah, I saw some people that said that the dumper shifted a little because of the rubber sandwich, but it’s not my case, I’m on TDC on the compression stroke, I’ve checked with valves and a flashlight on the sparkplug hole, but it doesn’t seem to do the trick… is like it’s impossible to line it if you have the pin aligned with the plastic ring and hole of the distributor like the FSM ask you to…

I ended up finding a post on some random forum where the guy said to pull the pin of the distributor gear and turn itself 180 degrees, that way I managed to line everything perfect as the manual said..
It started at first try..
I ended up having other issues after the rebuild but I don’t think they are related to that. Just wanted to post the answer in case someone have the same problem.
