Currently working on a TDI swap for my 06 TJ. Unfortunately during my original LS swap I got rid of the PCM and Instrument Cluster and had some questions on compatibility.

The Goal is to try and mesh different parts from different years and models. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Parts I'm thinking of using:

Instrument Cluster:

Instrument Cluster for a 03-06 Jeep TJ

PCM:
The PCM's for a 05-06 TJ are like $700 which I do not want to spend.

PCM for a 01-02 TJ go for $50-120. (4.0L)

PCM for a 02 Grand Cherokee are $50-70. (4.0L)

Sensors:
Will only be using the Oil Pressure, Coolant Temp, and Crank Position Sensor.
  • Sensors will correspond to the year PCM with the exception of the Crank Position Sensors due to the transmission.

If I'm using the PCM strictly for the gauges and nothing else does anyone foresee any problems?

Question/Issue #1:
I'm swapping in a NSG370 which only accepts the 03-06 Crank Position Sensor (MOPAR 4609153AE)
  • I've checked and and both the 02 and 06 Crank Position Sensors are 3 wire. The only difference is the shape as far as I'm aware?

Question/Issue #2:

Aside from maybe the plugs, would the older PCM be able to drive the newer gauge clsuter?

I would match the sensor to the PCM if possible. I've found that the computer is very sensitive to changes in the sensor
