Is this an LJ?

My question was specifically about the frame tag.
I have no idea what the letters LJ mean in that location.
However, awful big coincidence if LJ is just a made up nickname.

Screenshot please, basic, simple, effective, puts an end to all of it.

My question wasn't necessarily directed to you, but you are avoiding it.
If LJ is clearly stamped on a TJU frame tag, then why say it's a made up nickname.

Based on previous frame tag discussions, you can find plenty of instances where a TJ Unlimited frame tag will say TJ on the upper right. There is no consistency in what is stamped there.

Because there is no LJ body code. The body code is the base by which you order all parts through the dealership order system. If you pull up a radiator as a part on the dealer screen, under it there will be various codes by application. There will be TJ, domestic and export codes and then the code for long and short wheelbase and then codes for trans options. At no point in any of those is there and two letter decriptors or codes with the letters LJ in them because it is not a model, sub model, or body code. As much as you don't want to believe that, it is very easy to prove me wrong. Just post up the screenshot from any dealer's computer order screen showing any body code from 2004 to 2006 that shows the LJ model or body code.

I understand that.
However, you asking repeatedly for something that doesn't exist does not change my question.
Guess I'll never know.

This is it - and it was just an arbitrary designation the factory used - likely somebody had the word “long jeep”
in their head- And the market picked it up. There is no genius behind some of the stuff in life-just like the words “pompotous of love “ by Steve Miller. He just made it up. That was all.

To the best of my knowledge I am telling it straight. At least trying.

You would not believe all the things that were done on a whim in this world.

It took me a long time to find that picture on the interweb.
I was starting to think there was a cover up involved.

Registering out of the county isn't as easy as you may think. AZ nolonger alows you to use PO boxes, you have to have a physical address. This is where the tags get sent. I also don't know what this would do to insurance. Don't get me wrong, I would totally do it if I had someplace to register the jeep. But then there is always the risk that the whole state will adopt emmission inspections and Iwould be screwed.

So how about a UPS store address? They are real street addresses and they accept all carriers packages. For reference my business mailing address at a UPS store is 2168-265 Nesconset Highway. I doubt DMV would be able to tell as it is still a physical address.

I do not see an issue with saying my 05 Unlimited is a LJ. It’s easier to say and I think the vast majority of folks on this site know what I’m talking about. It’s like saying I have a Bug, most people would know It’s a Volkswagen Beetle.
If I say I have an Unlimited people think I have a 4 door JK.

Just being Devil’s Advocate here. Flog me if you wish.

We can call it whatever we want to. It is ours now. The entire point being made it that Jeep never used LJ to describe the TJ Unlimited.

I think everyone should refer to the forum guidebook- Things like this are exactly the kind of reasons it exists -

If you look under vehicle designations, Chapter 7, it clearly says-

Owners of the TJ Wrangler unlimited may use the term “LJ” even though LJ was not the factory designated name for the vehicle. If asked “what does LJ stand for?” the owner must state “it was arbitrarily dedicated as reference in assembly on the frame tag” and not elaborate more.

Part C- “To falsely state it means “Long Jeep” is a misrepresentation of the use of the letters and members found guilty shall be brought before the board to to be held accountable”

As always, you can count on me to help.

Countless hours have gone into this years revision gang-please make Chris proud, request your copy and follow it to the letter. Even if the letter is an L, and a J.

Without it we will just be another forum, where folks post stuff and then someone responds. Think of what that would be like. Sorta like, uh, we do anyway.
