Is this the engine block coolant drain plug?

On the 4.0, is this the engine block coolant drain plug? It looks like a different location that the pic in the service manual. I just want to make sure before I take something out that I shouldn’t. LOL

ita the only plug I see on the drivers side. Between the cats. I have an 8mm square drive and extension in it in the second pic.

That was it.

Just a little more than 1/2 gallon came out.

While waiting for everything to drain I was looking at the thermostat and housing. I tried something when putting distilled water back in to rinse and do another flush. I pulled the heater hose off the small nipple on the housing, used a small neck long funnel and started pouring distilled water in. I poured over a gallon before it started coming back out the nipple.

Did I effectively fill the block or not? I can’t remember how that little cut out works.
I didn’t have any problems burping or getting up to temp. Waiting for everything to cool down again for one for flush and refill with coolant.

Are you asking if that 1 gal completely filled the block before coming out the open drain hole? If so then no. Just like when you forget to put the drain plug back in the oil pan and you don't notice until over a quart into refilling, it is just the time delay to drain down through the block.

No. Just wondering if it helps to fill the block and head so you don't have the problems with air pockets and being hard to burp when you start up.

I seemed to work pretty well. I did it several times yesterday flushing everything until it was running clear. I poured water in until it eventually started coming back out of the heater hose nipple, then put the heater hose back on and filled the radiator. Never had any burping problems.
