Jeep dies in water

Tap might have been what I meant to say.
It’s original to the jeep (03) so I think it’s getting a new one anyway. If I can find a mopar starter that is not back ordered
If after you fix the grounds and the starter still won’t go, check the starter solenoid for open
This is also something that will cause the same symptoms.

I’m still saying it’s likely the grounds.
If you go through water regularly, and especially if your ground connection is even the tiniest bit loose, over time corrosive electrolysis takes place.
Corrosion= shitty grounds= problems.

Follow up to anyone that may be keeping up or has this issue in the future.
Starter was bad. Popped a new starter in and she ran like new.
I believe I overthought this one and went chasing things that 1) probably needed to be addressed anyway such as bad grounds and 2) didn’t look at the glaring issue in front of me which was the starter not turning.

Nice. Did you find some water to drive through to make sure? It never should have died in the first place.
I'm only half joking. I avoid deep water and mud as it causes a lot of long term issues but it shouldn't be an immediate problem when below the grill. The starter going bad doesn't explain why it died in the first place.
Have not yet but it’s about to start raining here again apparently so will be testing soon.
Also still going to install the big 7 cable set and clean up a few more areas of spotty wiring the previous owner left me with. I don’t like having a weak spot and this won’t be the last water this jeep sees.
Once we’re done there it’s on to installing the savvy arms, sye and rear shaft sitting in my garage
Thanks for the follow up. Glad it was a simple fix.
Right now, we (San Antonio) would kill for enough water to drive through! Since January, we have had 5.12" of rainfall, or 12.86" behind normal. If the past is any indicator, we will now get 6" of rain and have flash flooding.
