Jeep feels like a boat

Good day y'all. I just bought a 2001 TJ. It has a 3" lift (coil spacers). When driving on the road, the Jeep feels like a darn boat going from side to side, like a paper every time the air hits it. When passing semis, goes crazy and feels very unsafe. I'm a first time Jeep owner. Can someone help me here? TY in advance.

You might want check to make sure the swaybars are connected both front and rear. Also a loose track-bar can cause the jeep to feel very loose

I can't imagine 3" of coil spacers are helping either.

I agree with all of the above. I would also check your control arm bushings and see how worn they are.

Also, hopefully you don't have a drop pitman arm (big no-no), as a Jeep I once owned had one installed by the previous owner, and it was scary on the highway. One tiny touch of the steering wheel and it felt like it was floating all over.

check tire pressure if it is real low that can also cause issues

I had that issue, alignment was 1/2" toe out, doh...

Start with tire pressure, check the toe in (directions: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/how-to-align-your-jeep-wrangler-tj.85/ ), and then start looking for worn and loose suspension parts. Track bars, loose steering components, bad CA bushings in that order. If the TJ has been modified, look for a drop pitman arm. Like @Chris said, that's a no-no.

Low tire pressure and bad alignment will feel likes it's wallowing, usually. Worn suspension parts will feel like it's darting, usually.

Step on the front bumper with all your weight.
Stomp on it in sequence up and down hard with full force, then jump out keeping an eye on the front.
If the jeep still bounce up and down kind of flimsy, the shock needs replacement.
