Hi quick question, would a 1999 2.5 Jeep TJ Dash Harness properly communicate with a 2001 4.0 engine? It properly hooked up together but I received the NO BUS error code.

I just took a 1999 2.4 tub and frame...came with a dash and all the harnesses... stripped all of it off and replaced everything with my 97 4.0 wiring to get it to work.

Path of least resistance is to have EVERYTHING from the 2001 4.0 from the ECU to ALL the wiring harnesses and sensors.

You theoretically can "fix" your 1999 harness to work...but you'd basically have to line up the wiring diagrams side by side and tone out and verify every wire, splice...it would be an insanely crazy but doable task. No ECU will get you...but WranglerFix can sell you or reprogram yours.

Type my full screen name into YouTube if you want to see videos or look in the build threads for Operation Phoenix.

The resource section has some factory repair manuals to download.you might get some for both rigs and compare electrical diagrams for a better idea of what blaine is saying. Btw, if he says no its worth listening to...

So I can’t splice in a 2001 cluster and cluster connector into the 99 harness and get it to basically be PCI ?

I'm not sure what you would have to do to convert it. Can you lay out which bits are which year so we have a better idea of what to tell you?

Ok so basically what i’m stuck on is splicing the 2001 gauge cluster connectors into the 99 dash harness as the 99 harness has two CCD wires, a negative and positive, and the 2001 connectors have the single PCI wire. Every other wire on the 2001 PCI plug is color matched to everything on the 99 harness. How would I connect the two CCD wires to the single PCI wire? Someone told me years ago he did it but can’t recall how he did the wires and digger from a different forum said it is also possible but I can’t get him to answer my question with this CCD and PCI wires. I don’t know crud about electrical stuff. Would I somehow connect both negative and positive wire together to the PCI one?

We don't know how to convert the communication bus from CCD to PCI. They are different as you have discovered. We needed to do it to run an XJ PCM in a TJ to make an AW-4 swap work better and found it was easier to just get a custom PCM. Maybe chat with Mark at wranglerfix and see if he has an idea.
