Jeep TJ LS Swap Guide (Engine, Wiring, Cost & Step-by-Step)

I have an LS2 with an 05-06 TJ pump. The flow rate discrepancy between the stock LS pump and TJ pump is quite alarming and easily supports my desire to verify how well my engine runs at higher RPMs (3k-6k).



I'm aware, and I plan to verify things for myself. Thank you for taking time out of your day to try to help me.

I just finished the dyno on my 5.3 LS swap, the first time a few weeks ago he said my fuel pump was not sufficient, thus I swapped to a walbro 255. Just got back from the shop, final rear wheel dyno was 235HP at 4,700rpm and 289 TQ at 3,860rpm. Stock 5.3 (headers vs manifold) 4l60e, 4.56 gears with 35" tires for reference.

Did you get it changed to run 58psi?
 
I used the novak regulator delete for the tj gas tank so the pump sends full psi to the engine, the LS has a regulator on the rail so that's where it gets limited to 58 psi.

I forgot you said that part.43 idle and 58 under low vacuum conditions if I'm not mistaken. Same thing i have run in a couple trucks.

For anyone in the future who uses a flex fuel engine, I have an L59 which actually uses 51 as a base psi, I originally thought I had an issue but flex fuel have larger injectors and a lower psi to achieve the stock results. In any case, the regulator at the rail if working properly will adjust so you just bypass the tj regulator at the tank and you’re good to go.

Yep, you're ready for a torque cam like a truck norris if you have the 33-36lb flex injectors!
 
One thing that has not been mentioned in all the fuel pump discussions here is the fuel line. Stock TJ lines are 5/16". At least on my Hemi that's not enough. I run 3/8" feed line to get the required volume at the 59 Psi my '05 pump puts out. Are you LS guys running 3/8"?

'Course, I know the LS can get by just fine with 1/4" line.... 😀

First gen SBC's used 3/8 lines on high performance cars and trucks . Seems like the correct answer . 5/16" is low performance 4 and 6 banger stuff .

Yep,
I'm running 8AN line on mine which is 3/8" if I remember correctly.

I’m running 6AN PTFE line, I think it measures in between 5/16” and 3/8”. .34” if I remember correct. I only have 8 spark plugs to send fuel to, though, so I’m sure it’s fine. :ROFLMAO:

As Jeff said it's a LS so a 1/4" line would be enough... ;) 😅
