Jeep will not accelerate past 1500 RPMs

New ECU came in and didn’t not change the problem for better or worse. I carried my Jeep to a mechanic. The original distributor was cracked and I replaced it with a new one. The mechanic said the new one was also cracked and so he replaced it. He set the timing and found a wire in the wiring harness that was frayed and ground out. New distributor and fixed wire got it running good as new. $90 later I’ve put 100 miles on my ol Jeep and it hasn’t missed a beat.

I am having the same exact issue. What wire did the shop have to repair? I would like to check the loom but I don't see any damage.

Do you have a CEL ? If you don't know, double check. I think 4 screws hold the gauge assembly.
Look to see if it has been removed.

Edit, drove my first tj 6 months before I bothered to check. PO removed it.
Dishonest sellers either remove the CEL bulb or they reset engines codes right before u drive it away

Check Engine light works! comes on as I disconnected each sensor.

Don't need to remove the cluster to physically check for bulbs.

You can run the instrument cluster self diagnostic:

With the key in the off position, hold down the trip odometer reset button, turn key to on position, release the trip reset button.

The cluster will run through a test sequence of all the lights and gauges.
