so when bought my tj it already had a KnN cold air intake installed, I did some research and it seems like they don't do much and that they might hurt the 4.0, I don't have the stock air box, would it be worth it to buy a stock one and put that in, don't bother linking the thread on cai that Chris wrote I already read it

if you're only worried about dirt getting past the oiled gauze filter just buy a "dry" non-oiled synthetic media filter of the same size as your current oiled gauze filter

so I would buy a new one, but I don't have much money rn, so is there some sort of filter I could buy for less money to replace the one that is on the cai, one that doesn't let as much crap in, if so can you link it

A dry filter is going to cost less than replacing the OEM setup unless you come across a hell of a deal.

Plug your dimensions into this filter builder and use the number to find or cross-reference a "dry" non-oiled filter.

Just be aware that when you take our the K&N you'll notice a significant drop in horse power. Somewhere between 50-75 hp.
Pssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssh are you for real. gosh. so stupid. more like 100hp I painted my calipers red to make up for the removal. YOU KNOW if you remove the intake completely and don't restrict the flow with anything its way better.

Definitely get rid of that POS K&N "CAI" and replace it with the factory air intake. Look for used replacements on eBay and at https://daveysjeeps.com/parts/

K&N air filters pass unbelievable amounts of harmful particulates including fine dust, dirt, silicates, etc.
can't you get very fine mesh covers to put on the filters so it doesn't let as much crap in

Just used DaveysJeeps to acquire a stock replacement air intake for my 2006 unlimited. Couldn’t trust others who kept saying the intakes were the same from 97-06. My 06 intake and box lid were different from my 03 and DaveysJeeps knew to have you specify the year when ordering. Definitely recommend!
