So my rear brakes were knocking when braking on my 04 Jeep tj. Changed the drums and 1 wheel cylinder and so far the knocking has gone away. Why not 2 wheel cylinders you ask? After watching videos, I attempted the cylinders and the first one became such a hassle. I opted out after getting it changed, breaking the brake line, getting a new line, cutting, bending, installing. So I'll attempt the 2nd when my new prebent lines come this week, in case it too breaks. 2 issues gone (RMS and brakes), 2 more to go (EVAP code 0456 and blowing back up light fuse). So I recommend just get the 2 rear brake lines to have ready if you're going to replace your wheel cylinders. Cheers.

Yes, while rear disc brakes on a TJ offer no performance advantage over drums, not having to deal with drums alone makes it worth the cost of an upgrade to me

I had to replace hardlines when I replaced everything in my rear drums as well. One of the wheel cylinders was leaking like a busted dam, the hardline fitting was seized and twisted the line along with it.
Replaced everything from axle back. Probably won't have to touch them for another 10 years. I'd rather have discs, but they take such little abuse that when done right, they won't wear out for years and years to come.

Agree. Rear disks don't improve braking, bu working on drum brakes is one of the most frustrating jobs there is.
