Anyone in the Grand Junction area? Going to be going through Montrose and staying in Fruita this week for work. I can skip my Wednesday meetings and want to hit Billings Canyon if I can find someone to link up with?

Thought I was going to get an opportunity to use the LJ to recover my buddies 4Runner this afternoon. Another buddy got his new bronco stuck overnight, a JK came to help him out, got stuck. Another JK came and drove through the other JKs winch line at 2am. All those guys eventually got out, and my 4Runner buddy called me to pull him out - he came in from opposites direction and missed the circus. Drove 2hrs to get to him, right as was busting through the final drift… lots of driving, Jeep is still an untested virgin.
Easiest recovery I’ve been a part of at least, lol.

I can't make it this week but Billings is on my list. I've heard mixed reviews about a TJ on 35s being able to make it. Put that on the summer group list
Holy Cross
Billings
I've still never done Black Bear or anything in the Ouray area

There is a chance we might go to Ouray this year. I will let you know.

Holy Cross is always on the list. We will get a thread going on that. Sundays are the better day to run it because most people run it on Saturdays.

Sundays are always good for me. Get through sand shallow and figures out what’s next

Debating routes for this weekend. Planning to do it in 2 days, leave Friday am arrive mid day Sat. Was originally planning on taking 70 but this is last weekend of ski season and it’s supposed to snow Thursday and Friday. Last snow day had a 79 car pile up at the tunnel. Other option would be 80 through Salt Lake. Ads 2 hours (assuming 70 is clear) but don’t have to pull over Vail pass or deal with ski traffic. Leaning towards the longer route

Good question, I was just thinking about that today since I am driving the jeep out. I might try to leave in off hours to avoid the jam, but I am not 100% sure you can do that anymore. Though I am going straight on Sunday.

I’m bombing 70 Saturday morning and hoping for the best!

What's the best place to look for status of 70? We'll be coming through there early Saturday morning.

Looks like it'd add an hour to go through Salt Lake but I'd need to make that decision about half way through Nebraska.

Thinking about it, we may go through Salt Lake for a change of scenery.

Come through Buena Vista on Hwy 285/24. Then through Leadville and to Minturn. So far the weather looks like the heaviest is north. The passs are not as high or steep.

We are leaving Saturday morning at about 6:30 and should hit 70 a little after 8:00. For us with stops it is about 11 hours or so.

Cotrip.org however things change so fast on that road, weather is the only thing you can really count on looking at in advance.

Looking more closely it only adds 40 miles for me and that is a faster speed limit route, may be able to make up the time difference. I may go that route too. Only concern for that route is wind.

What’s your schedule looking like @Apparition? Maybe we can meet up on 80 and convoy in?

Looking at the future cast, the storm is more in the foothills and northern Colorado. 80 might be the better bet because you don't have the big passes to go over with the weather.

We will drive straight through. Leaving MN hopefully about 3pm. Then we'll be in Hurricane about a day later.

It's ~22 hours via CO or ~23 via WY with no stops.

Good deal, I plan on leaving around 6am, so maybe we’ll run into eachother. That’ll get me to 80 in Cheyenne about 6:30am. I have a 55 gallon tank on the Super Duty so I hopefully only have to make 1 stop if I can curb my caffeine intake. Showing 10h 40m for me.
