Things obviously don't add up
Am i having a retard moment, or did previous owner left me another easter egg surprise in form of a center console from another year?

You do not have an 05-06 center console. The bezel in your hand is correct for the 05-06. The part missing a screw should have been your first clue. That and unless some serious shenanigans have gone on with the shifter, even the right bezel for the shift boot won't work due to the opening in the console being in the wrong place for the 05-06. You need the front half from those years. Grouchy old twat indeed.

FYI- The parts diagram is showing the same part twice. What it looks like and then what it looks like in the bottom of the shift boot.

Mr. Blaine is exactly correct. Your TJ should have the top style , ‘05-‘06…

You have the older style shown at the bottom of the picture…

Even then he still needs the piece in his hand for that rectangular ring to snap into. I need to check and see if the top piece that snaps onto the console is different.

Mhmm i see i see
@mrblaine @sycboi I am grateful to both of you.
Obviously had assumptions, but never seeing how older or newer front portion of console is put together, assumptions stayed as assumptions. Now i have better understanding of where to go from here
