Looking to buy my first Jeep

Hi, I've been searching around trying to find a deal on a jeep, I had some car problems and I figured it was time to get a car I've always wanted. This jeep I'm looking at has 150,000 miles on it and a rebuilt title. The only real concern I have is the rust on the bottom, I don't know how much is too much or how much it would cost me to repair at a shop or if you guys think this is something I could do at home (I'm pretty handy and a quick learner).
They are only asking $4000 and I would like to know if you guys think this is something I should jump on quickly or just keep looking.

That looks like it is from near me in salt country. I just started looking myself, but I think you should have plenty of non-rusty alternatives around you if you bump up your budget what that frame replacement would cost you based on what I have seen in your area.

That frame is crap by NY salt standards. Run! Take your time in looking. If this is your dream vehicle then don't even think about this nightmare. If you think a vehicle is bad, or even questionable, walk away. There are plenty of good ones out there.
Any TJ being sold for $4k is gonna be junk. You should be looking at Jeeps in the $8k range. Maybe even higher to find one that isn't a money pit looking for the next sucker. Sorry, but true.

He can also expect to pay more than KBB and NADA. In my area you can find a decent one in the 6000-7000 dollar range if you don't mind a few problems to fix, but like others have said, that one is a parts jeep and 4000 is too much for that.

Any 'above average' up near me start above $8k and people will pay over $14k for a real nice one. I would have if I hadn't found my 06 Rubicon. Still paid close to $12k for this one.

I’d keep looking. I’m $2000 deep into frame repairs and could’ve done a lot else to the Jeep with that money. On top of that, I got another hole forming behind the rear LCA mount. Got it patched up for now until I can save some cash to have my guy cut it out and replace. See if you can find one a little up north from you. I’ll be heading down south for my next Jeep for sure.. Just don’t end up like me lol

Frame and body are (to me) the most critical components on any vehicle. Everything else can be unbolted and repaired/ replaced. Once a frame is comprised from either rust or an accident I have no interest in dealing with that kettle of eels.

there are holes rusted through the frame visible. I don't know how salt air affects Florida vehicles, but it's hard for me to believe this Jeep spent it's life in the South.

my only advice is that if you got this Jeep for free, it would still end up being very, very expensive.
