Lower psi... ahh

My 03 Rubicon was terrible when new ....drove all over the road. Old tires, worn control arm bushings, alignment , shocks.....just age , cheap parts and lack of maintenance.

So I went through it front to back.


I kept thinking my Jeep drove great , but stiff. I kept seeing lower psi mentioned but it didn’t register....so tonight I checked it....35 psi.


I dropped them to 30....wow. Surprised me, especially at speed , how much better it is.

Are there any negatives to 26-28?

If 33x12.5 R15 is correct, 26 psi is perfect for when the Jeep is lightly loaded 28 psi when fully loaded with people and/or gear.

26 psi is my sweet spot. Even going from 30 psi to 26 psi is a huge difference in terms of the ride quality.

As Jerry and others have said, 26-28 is the perfect range for that size. I ran 26psi in mine and they wore great.

I ran my 33" duratracs at 30 psi. 26 just didnt feel right, lots of drag, slightly lower mileage. My 35s Ive been experimenting on. Im currently running 25 psi and it feels perfect. With new tires, I start with high psi, drive around and lower until I feel its perfect.
