Man sports, not for "men" who like playing with balls.

I've always loved listening to Don Frey tell stories. They say if you watch Don and Yoshihiro battle, your testosterone will jump 100 points. :sneaky:

Here's some entertaining fighting in Don Freys shadow.... or something like that.

If you're not familiar with the Rough 'N Rowdy fighting series, you should be. ;)

I remember some big guys walking into our gym thinking they were something, almost always for boxing. They rarely came back for a second day and we're always nice to the new people.

Yea well they have better things to do!

No balls involved (especially with steroids)

Requires discipline pretty much 24/7, lots of mental barriers and pain thresholds you have to pass through. Cool stuff

Na, they came in thinking those muscles and size made them tuff, then we gently passed them through actual pain thresholds and they reconsidered. ;)

I remember one guy coming in to a kickboxing class and trying to tee off on a small new guy. I was still relatively new at that time but seen it and swapped out with the new guy. Muscle boy continued swinging for the fences with me until coach got tired of it and put him with one of our amature guys. At the next water break muscle boi started packing his bag and telling us he had a very important emergency meeting that he had to be at right then and poof, like a fart in the wind, he disappeared.

I seen another big boi freak out about something, it might have been an actual roid rage event, but when the BJJ coach asked him to leave he said no, then Ben put him down for a nappy-nap.

Dbags in every sport I'm sure...

A dude that trains will probably beat any dude that doesn't train muscley or not. Obviously the muscles do matter because why would there be weight classes? That's a personal issue that they can't check their ego.

Rich Piana does talk about how hard it is for him to train like you should because of getting out of breath though. But I think that's a steroid thing again

I would have thought about wrasslin if they didn't make you wear tights. No way I'm getting into it with some guy on a mat with his junk on display. How about some extra padding at least.

I ride my bicycle in all sorts of weather, long distances, while playing frogger with cars and dodging people with dogs. Cut my chin open, road rashed myself, and got hit by a 70-80 pitbull trying to bite off my front tire. Indoors I can ride at 22-23 mph for a couple hours. I wear shorts over my bike tights so people have to guess if I'm circumcised.

I alternate 45 min riding with 45 min weight lifting 4 days, then take a Friday off 40-50 mile ride Saturday, Sunday off. I haven't signed up for a race, but think I could hold my own in one in my age class.

Nothing as boring as riding or running indoors on a hamster wheel.

I had boxing gear until my wrist surgery made me stop with the bag.

It is, but it seems to be very common with the aesthetic muscle crowd, both men and maybe more so women.

Are you familiar with Eddie Hall? He was a strongman, not a bodybuilder, but he took a little adventure into boxing and MMA.

If you don't know who Eddie Hall is, look him up, he's pretty funny and seem like a good dude.

That is one of the best videos I've seen in a while

My kids are younger, but I'm introducing them too. It's a bit of a rock and a hard spot situation. I want to teach them how to take care of themselves, physical exercise and defensively, but I don't want them to get into the serious competition side of the sport because of potential injuries. That's a major reason I chose to quit when my son was born. I couldn't risk being down because of a sports injury, and I've seen a few over the years. I had a bad concussion early on and I learned a lot from that, so I take it way more seriously now.

Pacquiao is a good boxer, and as much as I hate to say it, so is Mayweather. I really love watching young Tyson videos, he had beautiful technical work, especially his footwork, and he had real power to go with it.

Are you familiar with Emanuel Augustus? He wasn't so much a "technical fighter", but had a beautiful flow when he was in the groove, and he was very entertaining. Sadly he also had a drug habit, and his 50/50 record reflects that even though I think his skill level was well above a 50/50 fighter.

Yep, being a professional fighter might seem cool but once you get hit in the head too many times there's just no way to avoid serious brain damage. Still, it's a good skill to have should you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to defend yourself.

Mayweather was very good, I agree. He was just a real pompous asshole unfortunately. Nothing beats Mike Tyson in his hay day. How long has it been since we've seen a heavyweight that can move the way Tyson did?

I am not familiar with Emanuel Augustus but he looks fun to watch based on that video.

I always cringe when I see guys dancing around the ring with their hands completely down by their waist side. All it takes is a guy who know what he's doing to see that opening and knock them out with a haymaker.

Some of the best boxers weren't the ones doing KOs either (though I get why the more powerful guys who were doing KOs were more fun to watch sometimes), they were the ones landing hits, ducking, dodging, and weaving. Pacquaio and Mayweather were those types for sure. Not the most powerful guys out there but they were so good at it that they could just wear the other guy out. I saw that a lot when I watched Pacquaio vs. De La Hoya.

You definitely had to do wrestling or be heavily involved to understand it and respect. At the higher level of competition the low scoring can definitely be a bit boring. Always a good laugh though seeing people try to dwindle it down to dudes in tights just touching each other. But at the same time I don't see the entertainment value of boxing or MMA so I get it. It is cool to see dominant wrestlers like Bo Nickal and Gable Stevenson make a good transition into MMA as there isn't much out there after college besides the Olympics.

I went to RNR when they came to providence some years back. Horrible setup. We got there 20-30 minutes early and they had already started the event by the time we got through the security. It was at the convention center with no bleachers, so just a ring in the center with folding chairs. By the 2nd fight everyone was standing on the chairs trying to see the ring. I'm a short guy so I did not see much. This is no exaggeration, the PA announcer kept screaming GO GO GO, FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT eveyr 10 seconds or so during every fight. I wish I had just stayed home and watched online. It sucks they quit doing them though. Very fun to watch online.
