I remember some big guys walking into our gym thinking they were something, almost always for boxing. They rarely came back for a second day and we're always nice to the new people.![]()
Yea well they have better things to do!
Na, they came in thinking those muscles and size made them tuff, then we gently passed them through actual pain thresholds and they reconsidered.
I remember one guy coming in to a kickboxing class and trying to tee off on a small new guy. I was still relatively new at that time but seen it and swapped out with the new guy. Muscle boy continued swinging for the fences with me until coach got tired of it and put him with one of our amature guys. At the next water break muscle boi started packing his bag and telling us he had a very important emergency meeting that he had to be at right then and poof, like a fart in the wind, he disappeared.
I seen another big boi freak out about something, it might have been an actual roid rage event, but when the BJJ coach asked him to leave he said no, then Ben put him down for a nappy-nap.![]()
That's a personal issue that they can't check their ego.
It is, but it seems to be very common with the aesthetic muscle crowd, both men and maybe more so women.
Are you familiar with Eddie Hall? He was a strongman, not a bodybuilder, but he took a little adventure into boxing and MMA.
If you don't know who Eddie Hall is, look him up, he's pretty funny and seem like a good dude.
That is one of the best videos I've seen in a while
My kids are younger, but I'm introducing them too. It's a bit of a rock and a hard spot situation. I want to teach them how to take care of themselves, physical exercise and defensively, but I don't want them to get into the serious competition side of the sport because of potential injuries. That's a major reason I chose to quit when my son was born. I couldn't risk being down because of a sports injury, and I've seen a few over the years. I had a bad concussion early on and I learned a lot from that, so I take it way more seriously now.
Pacquiao is a good boxer, and as much as I hate to say it, so is Mayweather. I really love watching young Tyson videos, he had beautiful technical work, especially his footwork, and he had real power to go with it.
Are you familiar with Emanuel Augustus? He wasn't so much a "technical fighter", but had a beautiful flow when he was in the groove, and he was very entertaining. Sadly he also had a drug habit, and his 50/50 record reflects that even though I think his skill level was well above a 50/50 fighter.
Here's some entertaining fighting in Don Freys shadow.... or something like that.
If you're not familiar with the Rough 'N Rowdy fighting series, you should be.![]()
