Don't know if any of you use "Google" to search for stuff, but I do. They always have these artsy-fartsy renderings of "famous" people (though half the time I never have heard of them), or artwork of big events or national "whatever" month. So what do they have for Memorial Day? A single, very, very small American flag. That's it. Almost in an "oh, and by the way..." fashion. Instantly pissed me off. They (the fallen) deserve better. Well, at least they get it here in this thread.
This morning, as we have done for the previous seven years, my son and I donned our uniforms and assisted at the ceremonies in Cashmere, WA honoring those that have passed. It’s always a humbling experience.

New member and my first post. Just picked up a 2006 LJ, but that's for another thread.
I'm a member of the Noble Cause Foundation, a group dedicated to remembering and honoring the service and sacrifice of our greatest generation. Our normal event for memorial day was cancelled (due to COVID, sigh) but we still rallied the troops and headed down to our local memorial cemetary to honor those who have served this great nation. Costa Mesa provided a police escort and I was honored to drive the mayor, John Stephens.
