Well I finally got a Jeep that runs great and I can drive down the highway at 70 mph with one hand on the steering wheel

It took a lot to get here
Brief history of what I have done
Bought this 2001 Wrangler sport about 5 years ago with a motor knocking like crazy. I think I got a good deal at $4,000. The Jeep came with a 4-in skyjacker lift and big gnarly mud tires. I drove for 2 years like that around town until finally a piston let loose. So about 3 years ago I decided it was time to get busy. My son and I pulled the straight six and rebuilt had it bored 30 over at the machine shop. Head was cracked so bought a new tupy head. Installed stage one cam and a melling high volume oil pump. Installed motor and it fired up in 5 seconds and run this great. Replace the mud tires with general grabber ATV 33x12.50x15 and made sure they were properly balanced. Installed a ZJ front end including tie rod ends drag link etc. Did a driveway alignment. Replaced all seven universal joints. Replaced lower control arm bushings. Replaced coil spring pads on rear. Got rid of the skyjacker shocks and went with the rancho rs5000x. Replaced the rear output shaft on the transfer case. Change both front and rear differential fluids. Change transmission fluid and filter. I'm sure there are a lot of other things that I have forgotten over the last couple of years lol

I hate to think what all of this would have cost me if I had not performed the work myself. Luckily I know how to turn wrenches and have worked in a few auto shops over the years.

My point to this post is don't give up stay diligent do you research and keep plugging along and you will reach your goal. And I must say that this form has been invaluable to me. And I just want to say thank you to all that have responded to my post and help me along the way.

I also recently added a hardtop that someone had driven a tree limb through repaired repainted and good to go. Much quieter on the highway LOL
