I forgot to add that the last time I drove it before parking it, I gave it sudden heavy throttle input trying to accelerate pretty hard, and immediately heard a loud pop, almost like a backfire. I drove the 20 minute drive home and then it sat until after I replaced the water pump and tried to start it. It didn't give me any problems on the way home, but I feel like that might be significant info in diagnosing the problem.
I checked all the fuses, nothing blown.
Is it possible for the crankshaft position sensor to malfunction and not trigger a diagnostic code? I don't want to just throw parts at it without knowing for sure it's the culprit.
