I am really needing some advice right now! I have a 1998 TJ with a 4.0. that I was having a misfire problem with on 1 and 6 but over all it ran ok. Just idled really rough, I did a compression check and 1 and 6 were low and I ended up figuring out the problem was with the valve seats so I pull the head and have a machine shop put new hardened seats on the intake sides and new valves and the whole head cleaned and magnafluxed and all that. I disassemble and re assemble everything by the book and didn’t cut any corners. I cleaned everything before re assembly and torqued everything to spec. When I finished it up this afternoon I go to start it... it took a few seconds to fire up and once it did it immediately had a super rough idle like it barely wants to run and keeps backfiring into the airbox it sounds terrible. The engine sounds really really rough way worse than before and like I said keeps making a popping sound in the airbox like it’s backfiring. Has anyone ever ran into this before or know of anything I could be missing? I have checked that all the wiring is back in place and all the connectors are plugged up, I have double and even triple checked them. Also all the spark plugs are in the right spot and all the injectors are as well as I labeled them all before disassembly. I’m not sure what to do at this point I’m feeling pretty damn defeated. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
