Need low profile taillights and Savvy has no ETA in sight

If you need corner armor there is only one option. And it doesn’t include dual round lights.
I find it extremely rare these days that a part I buy doesn't need to be modified in some way to fit my needs. Round lights are easy enough to add with a hole saw.

I'm more confused about if worried about taillight clearance, how is the gas can not going to block the light from other drivers vision?
On both sides the platforms hit the very top portion of each light, because they stick out so far,the 1 inch savvy’s would work perfectly .

So we got these options since Savvy is a no-go:
https://genright.com/products/genright-matrix-led-tail-light.htmlhttps://metalcloak.com/tj-wrangler-rear-aluminum-led-kit.htmlhttps://genright.com/products/maxbilt-led-tail-lights-surface-mount.html
IT's kind of just a question of do i feel that round tail lights are acceptable on an TJ/LJ? IDK why i have a slight aversion to them, the head lights are round, no reason why the tail lights shouldnt be i guess? The metal cloak aluminum ones look like my favorite since they're basically a copy of Savvy (but in stock).

I'm with you here. I happen to like the shape of the stock lights. For me, it would have to be the billet aluminum housing version. The downside to the Metalcloak option is they don't show replacement lenses, like Savvy had.

Edit: I just noticed they have a flash 10% off sale and free shipping.

I was just telling some buddies that nothing is bolt on anymore.

To be on topic: I have the maxbilt's - they're fine. I prefer the savvy style since they're more OEM looking, so when those are back in stock I will eventually get some.

Here's one more option from Offroad Only, it's very similar to the Maxbilt: https://offroadonly.com/shop/led-lighting/off-road-only-litedot-round-redwhite-tailight-pair-2/

Yep maybe get them until savvy’s are back in stock, but you still have the problem of the license plate being in the way

Overlanding is gay. Just call it camping like a normal person.

I don't know if "camping" really conveys to most people what it really means to wheel all day and camp in a new place every night. I think most people think of setting up a tent (or a camper trailer) somewhere, maybe next to a body of water, and hanging out for a few days. I don't have a problem with the terminology. And in fact, I think doing a couple hundred miles of wheeling over the course of a week crossing far more diversity of terrain than can be done from a single home base is fun.

When it gets "gay" is when it turns into a bunch of overbuilt $80k rigs rolling over some dirt or gravel roads and then setting up a full 2 acre campsite, spending hours dragging out a truckload of overpriced gear to eat a gourmet meal, then starting off the next day with a couple more hours to pack it all back up. Bonus points if you have thousands in videography gear to put it all on your YT channel.

probably a stupid question, but... As I have been stopped because my license plate light was too dim, how do these low profile housings address the license plate light? I suspect it will be mostly mute as once I have my rear tire carrier on, they could probably stop me from obscuring the view to the license plate anyway.

Sounds like a great time! I wouldn't want to be a buyer in this market either.

I think the round tail lights might look if they were fairly big, are there any good options like 6" or 7"?

Taillights as big as headlights?
Yes,.good for the gander good for the goose! Maxbilt and ORO are 5" lights. Anyone put a tape on stock light height?
