Try running the Mystery Oil through the engine. If it is a varnish problem that should clear it up. Do you have any idea what oil the OP had in it? It also could be the new oil filter lacks the anti-drainback valve. Easy to look for. Unscrew the filter and look for a 'rubber' washer inside all those holes that surround the center mounting hole. If no rubber then all the oil is allowed to drain back to the pan.

It’s a stock Mopar filter, running Seafoam right now. The knocking does speed up with acceleration.
