I need replacement cables for the parking brake, the park that connects near the center adjuster back to the actual drum. I have a dana44 rear with disk brakes/drum parking brake (if that matters). Don’t care if it’s a used part, just need to replace mine because the prior owner cut the current ones and used clamps to redo them with no wiggle room at the end of the line so I have NO trust in them to hold the jeep

Rock auto sells them . Amazon too .Left and right are different .

Thank you so very much, is this another case of amazon’s fitment thing/the description being wrong? It says only 03-06

Mine haven't come yet, but Amazon agrees with RockAuto, and both agree with Raybestos themselves.

According to them, the TJ is 96158 (left) and 97143 (right).

The LJ is 97144 (left) and 96157 (right)

Based on what came off my car I would have guessed 97143/97144 since mine had a tab to connect them to the UCA.

Did you buy them from amazon or rock auto? I couldn’t seem to find them on RA

I bought from a combination of both, but all of them have the same, incorrect, information. What I can say is this: I just installed a 97143 and a 97144 in a 2004 and another set in a 2006. Both are about 8" longer than the ones that came out of the vehicle, but are otherwise identical to what I had. From this, I deduce that the 97143/97144 combination is the right one FOR AN LJ.

Although the rubber cushions shown in the pictures do not match my vehicle, I assume that the Raybestos 96157/96158 is the correct combination for the non-LJ.

The only place I've found that lists these correctly, now that I know the answer and what to look for, is Dorman. 96157/96158 at 34" long, which matches the originals I took out.

I have one at home that I mistakenly ordered (TJ instead of LJ).
When I have a chance to dig it up, I'll post the part number incase anyone wants it.
I'm pretty sure it's for the right side.

Amazon says I bought this.

I’d love to take it off your hands.

03-06 for either the TJ or TJ Unlimited would be correct since disc brakes were not optional before 03 on any TJ trim level with any rear axle. The reason your cables are cut and clamped is someone did a disc brake conversion and didn't want to buy the cables. But, most of the disc brake conversions use the cables from the 03-06 Rubicon for the TJ and then the longer ones for the TJ Unlimited if you extend the wheelbase enough.

You should consider spending a few minutes trying to figure which conversion you have since you may need some parts at some point and that is the worst time to figure out some oddball parts.

Didn’t realize that, but I already found out the oddball parts by talking to wilwood customer support. Just didn’t want to roll will this half-assed fix or buy wilwood overpriced cables.
