JK E-locker.
i ran an OE equivalent lead off the E locker.
and i have a harness in place i was gonna re-purpose. it's a Hella harness and it's got a 12V/40A relay in it.

my locker schematic says 8A max, 0-18V.
so is it as simple as a new relay at a lower amperage? 8A if it can be located?
or is that telling me it'll only draw 8A?

wires ain't my thing unless it's meting 1 into steel parts, and i'm trying not to apply that tactic here.
after this 1's sorted i may have another issue with the ARB compressor wires.
thanx in adv..

No worries on the relay amperage the locker will draw what it needs. More important is the shunting diode (number 5 on your drawing) that needs to be installed. A GM AC clutch diode PT748 works well for that.

i had my electrician at work look at the drawing and he gave me a device..........i'm not quite sure how to use, so we need to talk more.
i can get the listed Delphi 12110147 from Summit for 22$.

or looking at what i have (the harness) it's run pretty much like the schematic. what i have is the wires from the relay and they have a corresponding pigtail to connect the locker wires with.
this is no simple plug it's gotta be a device like this, no? this thing is capable of handling a 300W lamp, 8W won't even tickle it.
and this would/should be this suppression device , no?

i did look up about every dam site that listed this Hella harness but they all have the same stock description, and do not specifically mention a diode or suppression device.

Lighting does not require a diode you have to add it because of the locker.

ok. thank you.
i'm gonna question my guy at work again tomrw and have him explain it to me in children's terms.

that PT748 is kinda hard to find, gettin all kinds of oddball tech suppliers either out of country or out of stock or must call for a quote. Summit can get it as a special order mid May est..
they have the Delphi in stock.

i took the plug end in and let him see that and he agreed it's just a fancy plug, neither of us could figure why they made it .
so elaborate for a simple connection.

he looked at my drawing , then he found an Eaton drawing.
and dug up the Delphi/GM 12110147 and got info and drawings on that.
then he looked at the relays, so he could be sure. and when i asked him if this is a diode he said, kinda but more than just that.

this is the description he gave me (pic).
and a link to this thing, but it's all mumbo jumbo to me. looks like it handles "noise" and peaks to me. but again to technical for my melon.

i do appreciate the help, but feel i'm stuck on a he said he said teeter.

The connector is Deutsch commonly used as an alternative to Weatherpack in industrial applications. I am sure that suppressor will work fine it just has more going on than just being a diode. With the issues I have had with Eaton in the past I try to not deviate much from what they have used in the past like that GM diode.

thank you for your help and patience.

i got all that tied in and hope it does what it's supposed to.

next up is this ARB compressor. i have the main all wired as the diagram instructs, but i did not buy an ARB switch for my locker. i purchased the OE lookalikes from Amazon and they run a 3 wire configuration.

the way it looks to me i'd be working with red, yellow and black, correct?
appears to me like blue/wht is just passing illumination i don't need, yes? and the 2nd black is redundant, and not required unless blue/wht is used, yes?

lastly they show a diode inline to illumination, and illumination is used/active to the primary ARB power control switch. is 1 expected to locate a present diode and connect beyond it, or install another?

presently i jumped the power plug/lighter right there in the dash for isolating control to only when the ignition is on and the illumination is jumped at the shifter console illumination. < this was taken off some thread somewhere.

switch 2 wires will remain unused (for now).
