New Gears Speedometer Way Off

Hi guys. I just had my 4.56 gears install on my 3 speed automatic with 35's. My speedometer is WAY off and thus I believe my odometer count is going up faster as well?

I only drove it home (1.5 hours tho!).

I have some questions.

1. My Speedometer says I'm doing 140km/h(87mph) when I'm doing like 110 km/h(68mph). That's 22% faster than I actually am going Does this mean my odometer is going up 22% faster as well? I guess what I'm asking is are the speedometer and odometer linked?

2. What is the best way to fix this? Doing calculations for a new speedo gear? Or can I just use one of those "Healtech, Speedohealer" rigs. It seems really easy but it also seems like the next person who buys the jeep would be a little suspect of something that essentially modifies the speedometer. Also what are the chances it breaks? I guess you would notice if it did cause your speedometer would tell you your going wacky speeds?

3. Does my fuel consumption go up with higher gears? I also feel like this is the case. It would appear I'm sitting right at 3k rpm when doing 110 kmph (68mph).

Thanks

You just need a new speedo gear.
Speedohealer looks like I can do it myself in 5 minutes. Are they shady or what? A speedo gear seems like The transfer case has to be opened and such. And With diffs and transfer cases I'm paying someone to do that... which would be more expensive

I may be wrong, but I think the speedohealer thing is for ‘03-‘06 Rubicon’s only.

I’ve not replaced a speedo gear, but it seems pretty easy if you have any mechanical ability.

No Looks like Speedohealer an be for whatever you order it for frankly. But thank you for that thread. I didn't find it on my initial search. Looks easy and makes me wonder why speedohealer exists for a jeep...

Rubicon’s need it because the speedometer is electronically controlled.

When folks say 5 minute job there not lying....easy peasy.

Just be glad you have a tj and not a jk or jl that requires a 200+ dollar device(tazer) to recalibrate the speedometer...gotta love the simplicity of our Jeep's. I'd take a mechanical fix over a computer fix any day of the week.
