New Jeeper - 2005 TJ Issues

Depending on which O2 codes you're getting, it could be that the sensors are working and telling you there's something wrong with the exhaust readings.

If you're on a budget, that bumper could be straightened.
Also, it's common to cut it shorter making it look more like a stubby/crawler bumper.

At first only two of them were reading, now I have all 4 so really think it's a PCM issue.

In regard to build, I'm looking for a clean refreshed stock look. I really like the minimalist/simplistic look of the jeep. I'm not aiming for an off-road/oversized build and personally think the shorter bumpers look better with larger tires. Hoping to keep this car for my lifetime as a beach car (being highly optimistic here lol). Throughout the build I'm going to most likely replace items if I don't think I'll be able to fix to stock quality. Probably a lot because of my lack of experience. Thank you for your comment, just providing some background where my heads at.

How does the frame look on this? Only asking because you can see the rust at the skid plate. I would want to make sure the frame is solid before I would start investing too much into it.

Hey Maximus,

It is a sport not a rubicon. In regard to the rust, I did check that lol. That was main selling point for me as I thought the frame looked really good for a northeast jeep.

Making some progress on the electrical.
-Installed the new KC hilights
-Installed wranglerfix PCM

Had to learn how to do soldering as previous owner had aftermarket’s leds that weren’t compatible with oem wiring harness. Have to finish soldering up signals but think it’s coming along!

I turned on car and engine light was off and Headlights look great! Both signal lights were on, on the dash but think it’s due to the connectors being removed and not finding a ground?? I think will resolve once everything is hooked back up.

Hey all, good news! The engine light is off thanks to the new wranglerfix PCM.

Next issue to tackle is the rubbing I was talking about when pushing down on throttle. Is this most likely the transmission or just something loose? It’s louder on takeoff and can hear it mildly when pressing gas at higher speeds.

I’ve heard changing the trans fluid at higher miles can show underlying trans issues. Is this correct and should I change as the fluid appears to be quite dark and I don’t know when it was changed last.

One other comment, I’m trying to remove the front bumper and for the life of me can not get the bottom bolt out. I almost broke my ratchet and it’s starting to strip. Should I purchase an impact or try heating the bolt with my soldering gun?

You can’t go wrong with changing the fluid, especially with an unknown history.

Try penetrating oil on that bolt. Kano Silikroil works well. Then heat if needed.

In the future, don’t do any more soldering of wires. Over time vibrations cause the solder to crack and the connection to fail.

The best connections are made by a non insulated butt connector crimped with a stake and covered in adhesive heat shrink. Fast, easy, reliable.
