Just picked up my $25 Craigslist find!
From my research, it's a late 80's (or early 90's) Coleman propane camp stove (model 5435A700).
This was an unopened, new old stock Coleman stove. The quality of the old stoves is noticeably better than the current models and were still made in the USA back then!

Opening this thing was like finding a time capsule. Everything was preserved. They even had the warranty card and product booklet.

I am planning on greasing all the o rings considering they're probably a bit dry. Other than that, I can't wait to get out and give it new life!

Enough chit chat. Here's what you came for:

I’ve got that exact Coleman Stove. Still looks brand new. Cooked with it Saturday night at a MTB event. Going with me to Moab in a few weeks. Great find

On the older Coleman stuff there is a month/year date stamp usually on the bottom.

Same thing happened with gas grills. I bought a two burner gas grill back when China first started importing them. It had a cast aluminum shell that was bombproof. And didn't rust. I cooked for 30+ people on that little two burner grill with ease. But the internals got rusty cause I live on the beach. So I threw it away - instead of just changing out the internals - and bought a new one. But when I went to buy a new one all they sold were these cheap sheet metal ones that don't last. Live and learn. I should have rebuilt the one I had.

Same with a Hibachi. Not sure any of you remember those. But I found one in a back alley one time. Being thrown out. I had it for years. On my patio. It cooked so well. I loved that thing. Moved and thought I'll just buy another one later (with the wooden legs. As mine was missing those. I just used it sitting on the ground.) when I have more room for it. Now they don't make them in cast iron anymore. Just cheap sheet metal crap. Wish I had never given that up. Was the nicest non gas barbecue I ever owned. Those little height adjustments for the grill were perfect for cooking anything. You could raise or lower your meat up and down on the flame.

I'm always amazed when I find a current product made better than something from 20+ years ago. It's an oddity. As everything is built to fail now. Great find on the grill. Now that I have a Jeep and will probably be camping out of one. Rather than just hiking from a trail head like I normally do. I'll be looking for a Coleman like that.

Can't beat the old Coleman stuff. I've got a late 1946 530 similar to the GI stove. It fired right up with fuel older than most stoves you find. Even well used Coleman stuff is still serviceable, so much better than what's available for sale now. It cost me more in gas to go pick this one up than seller was asking.

Very cool. Here's mine from 1990 that's still kicking. I've used it many hundreds of times over the past 29 years. Once in awhile I catch myself looking at the fancy new stoves in the store, but always catch myself. Why get rid of something that is so simple, yet works so well.
