New Year Ice Storm Fun!

Had to break off our New Year celebration and come home to deal with the ice storm. Some of our elderly family we look after had some damage and no power. Lines and trees down all over town. One of the houses I own has a tree on it with some structure damage. No fun with a hangover

Luck our home has power so everyone is safe and warm. No wheeling this weekend. Need to sharpen some saw chains.

That sucks...Stay safe. Hopefully you were due for a roof soon and insurance can cover that.

Do the ice storms happen often?

Not bad ones but we do get ice from time to time, this one is smaller, but the longer we go without one the worse it is due to tree growth. This one impacted a small area, but with high population density. I have not needed to drag my generator out since the last big storm in 2007. That time power was out to our house for 15 days. and we lost like 6 trees. My new house has buried utilities. We rarely have an outage here even when the ice comes. I still keep the generator stored in case we need it, or a friend needs to borrow it.

Good thing is it doesn't stay cold here, it'll all melt in the next day or two. We have a gas fireplace too, so we can keep warm without power if needed. Will see what insurance says, that roof is 4-5 years old, and it broken some decking so I image them will buy a new roof with a partial redeck. Third roof I have claimed in the last 6 months. I am sure they love me by now.

We will be coming out next month. Found a few places in Buffalo we like and the area looks nice.

Buffalo is alright, I know some guys up that way. Good access to 65 hwy and not too far from town if you need something. Let me know when you plan to visit, we can meet up if you want.

Will do. Seems like the town has most of what a person needs and easy access into Springfield for work.
