I am very y impressed with this forum. Lots of savvy and good manners from what I’ve seen so far.

I started out looking for a CJ7, and have found that it seems like I can get into a better suspended, more modern TJ for the same money. I’ve done four wheeling over the years, But never for fun, but just in the course of getting around my ranch and my son in laws ranch. Since retiring 8 years ago I have ended up doing voluntary disaster relief. Being among the first people in after a hurricane or tornado often involves four wheeling. Now I’m looking at a jeep to enjoy a nearby off-road park with my grandkids.

I want something capable with a significant lift, a full roll cage and restraints because my precious grandkids will be with me. I thought I would be able to find something built, but that’s not looking very practical without ending up with what someone else has already thrashed. There seem to be reasonably priced TJ’s that with a lift, tires/wheels, a roll cage and seats with restraints I can have what I want. I also want something I can drive the thirty miles to the off-road park, but if I have to, at that point a few thousand more for a trailer might be necessary.

Thanks for letting me in and for the friendly replies I’ve had so far.
