OEM radio compatibility?

I’m finally deciding to go back to a stock oem radio but don’t have an original for comparison. 2004 Sahara that had the 7 speaker system. I pulled my build sheet but it just mentions that I had a CD player with the 7 speaker system. Anyone have a definitive way to tell if I need the slider model or digital?

I had the cd radio in my 06. Not sure what you mean by slider or digital, but you can run any head unit you want with the factory speaker setup. It's just a matter of using the right pins in the right holes.

Apparently there is some difference in the models with sliders for then add and treble controls vs it being digitally changed. I really don’t see how it would matter since the plugs look to be the same across both styles.

Somebody may have been associating the sliders with the connector type on the back but it doesn't matter like you said. If it plugs in it'll work and if it doesn't you can just connect up the wires.

(the 2004 deck had the sliders by the way but I wouldn't look for one, the 05-06 has a better display if you can find one)

Just to show some reference of what I mean, I’ll attach the link. Read the description. It may be just something they include to cover their tail in case of someone ordering one with the wrong plug. Best I can tell though is that both versions have the same plug.

I like the way every listing says "check the chart" and there is no chart.

Just for reference I own both those radios, slider and non-slider for the tone control and they both work on my 2004.

The RBK is a nice radio with the digital controls. My favorite is the RBQ with the built in changer. I paid about $15 for each of mine. They are common at junkyards, neons and the sebrings are such turds there are plenty to pick from.

I may pick one up if I run across it. I’m not really using CD’s anymore in the Jeep or at all. Mainly just want the radio and a screen that is somewhat easy to read. The cheaper aftermarket radios are almost impossible to see in sunlight. I might add an aux jack in the future if I see the need. Most likely not though. Just wanting it simple at this point.

Ruggedized AM/FM/Weather/USB "Geek stick". Front and rear aux-in as well. They do make more expensive versions with CD and/or bluetooth for those who need them. Display is very easy to read, and its brightness/contrast are adjustable.
