Old vs refresh hard tops?

Hey yall

So me and my bright ass was driving up a nice icy hill today...just a dirt trail...and I still don't have my front axles in so I lost traction and slid all the way down into a tree and the tire carrier smashed my rear window.

Now it appears that buying a hard top is cheaper than replacing the glass. I'm looking at one for 200 bucks, and it's the old type with the vents. Could I just use the glass from that on my newer style hard top or no? I saw something about the rear wiper being different.

Hardtops are +- $1500 here in So Cal. For a used one in "good" shape.

Same in norcal. Oem hardtops are upwards of 1000+

I was very lucky and got my used one for $450.

OP it Really depends on your area, but there are good finds out there

If you find a good hard top for less than $1K you need to buy it and sneak away quietly.

Hard tops are usually pretty reasonable around here... the one I'm looking at is a bit faded because it's been sitting outside but that's not a big deal to fix. It's up north a couple hours away from everyone which I suspect is another reason it's so cheap
