OPDA Scream

Probably a wise thing to do! Honestly a massive relief that the cam gear wasn’t worn...I’ve done cams, heads, lifters and all of that on my 1968 F250 camper special 5.7L V8 (my daily driver while this project is underway) and I would never wish the pain it was to replace a cam on anyone. 😕 crossing my fingers installing the new one tomorrow. I’ll keep y’all updated.

Yes, I've done a number of cams before on other vehicles, and it's never a fun job. With the 4.0 having an "underhand" cam, that certainly doesn't make it any easier. Last time I did it I worked on a DOHC, and that was easier since you took off the valve cover and they were right there.

Anyways, hopefully the new OPDA install goes smoothly. Watch that video in the OPDA thread, it's very helpful when it comes to installing it and making sure the timing doesn't get out of wack.

OPDA arrived late last night and I wasted no time putting it in! Reused the oem sensor per Jerry’s advice and boom! No scream, sounds or any other problems! Gave it a good test run today on a few trails and no issues! Thank you all for the help 🆒

Hi! I just found your thread and had a question for you. Mine started doing this loud monkey laughing sound about 2 weeks ago and I feel like I have the same issue. I’ve ordered a new part and it doesn’t come in for another few days.
How long did yours make this noise for before you discovered the problem? Is your Jeep your daily driver?
My Jeep is my daily driver and I put approximately 40 miles a day on it. I just want to ensure I’m not going to further destroy anything by continuing to drive until I get the replacement part.

I don't mean to scare you, but it's potentially catastrophic to the engine. You can read up on that here:
