Operation Phoenix

Well...good news the Koyorad radiator arrived a day early and the bad news is I probably accidentally ordered one for a Cherokee. So got the right one ordered but it won't be here until next Wednesday.

Since the original only has a pinhole leak I'll probably run it. There was a ton of corrosion in engine 2.0 so we'll fill it with radiator flush and let it clog up the leaking radiator instead of the new one.

Messed around with little things. Tensioner pulley install. Cleaned up bolts... would like to get some new conical washers for the exhaust.

Pulled the exhaust valves from the head...I had lapped them previously but they're heavily pitted and three of them leaked with no pressure. New valves tomorrow so I settled down for some conciliatory exhaust porting. Really more smoothing out the casting...but it can't hurt.

Oh and recovered my eight...might be ninth boat from the woods. Almost got the truck stuck. Need to get my Jeep running.

It's one thing if you do something shitty because it'll be the next guys problem, but different if you think it'll be your problem down the road and then it holds up and you end up selling lol intent matters

I gotta say, this is one of the best build threads ever. What I like most about it is the support given. Everyone, especially Mac, moves forward not taking anything, or anyone, too seriously. Life is far too short to not laugh and enjoy just being alive. Thanks Mac!

Throw some of that JB onto that cracked header too... Might seal it up for a while... I'd HATE to throw that cracked on back on without doing something to try and fix it... Or just bite the bullet and order a new one.

Talking to Banks now about warranty replacement. I have stainless mig wire. If they want it back then I can't touch it. Soon as they let me know I'll do something.

P.S. Crystal just called back. They're shipping me a new header but it won't ship until the middle of next week. They don't need the old ones back but they need a picture of me cutting them in half. Let me know if anyone can find a picture.

This also renews my warranty for another 5 years.

Definitely going to get this set ceramic coated.

All I know is on the stock headers every time I've attempted to weld on one it cracked within 6 months of my repair...

Hopefully Banks will warranty it... How old is it?

I forget who's header @Woodrow has now on his. Don't remember if it was him or another member who had a Banks that had cracked like that also.

Welded the Banks header.

Painted bolts. Got 1/4-20 well nuts for the new condenser.

That was what I thought until I took it off the engine. Odds are it probably wasn't leaking. Banks welds both sides... inside and outside.
