My 2000 wrangler 4.0 is overheating when driving. It will get right up to the red line on the gauge and whenever I come to a stop it drops back down to normal. The whole cooling system is new. I’ve taken it to two shops and they also can’t figure it out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Unless it's been replaced, you have the head casting that's known to crack. Look down the oil fill hole and see if you see coolant bubbling out.
If you see TUPY, it's the later, good casting.

Thanks guys! Yes, the water pump is mopar. The head has not been replaced, I’ll check there next. Had a block test done and there were no exhaust gasses found so I kinda eliminated the head gasket being the problem.

I had a very strange problem in a car I had, not a TJ and I don't know if it can happen, it's just a clue that might help. There were no exhaust gases or any clues detected but it had a broken head gasket. I hope that's not your case. That car traumatized me.
