So a couple weeks ago I was getting onto the highway and had to quickly accelerate, which resulted in CEL with a p0016 code. The vehicle continued to run and drive fine and I was on the highway for only a few miles. After a quick look over, I cleared the code and it stayed off for a couple trips until I jumped on the highway and the CEL came on at exactly 70 mph during normal acceleration. I cleared it again and it began popping up every trip. Never experienced any issues along with the CEL. I lined up the hole and pulled the OPDA and found a prior owner put in a Dorman. Didn’t notice and abnormal wear on the gear. I checked the TDC (at least I believe it is the mark, pic attached) and found it pretty far off. I pulled the opda again, aligned the mark and replaced the opda. Took two trips so far and the light remains off. I’m looking for some advice as to if there’s potentially deeper issues at hand that I should address? Did the timing chain jump, and if so, why didn’t I notice a change in performance? Is the timing slowly changing and the computer is fixing it? In the meantime I also ordered a new oem sensor (in case the prior owner put the dorman on). Any help and/or advice is greatly appreciated. Vehicle is 2005 Wrangler Sport, 4.0L, 50k miles. I’m not a mechanic, just a DIYer. Thanks!
