Pilot Bearing Help

I tried the grease trick with no luck, I have a tight fitting rod and it is building good pressure, but the bearing won't pop.

Then I found this pic on this forum:

My LUK kit only came with the inner needle bearing. Is this entire sleeve supposed to be removed/replaced or am I just trying to get the needle bearing out?

Any clarification would be much appreciated.

Just the needle bearing.

Most auto parts stores will loan tools, are there any near you? They would likely have a pilot bearing puller and slide hammer you could borrow. That’s what I ended up doing.

Mine was stuck in there really well too. I borrowed a puller from the auto store, and all that accomplished was deforming the lip on the bearing. So. I kept pulling, and breaking pieces of the lip off. Eventually, the rollers came out. I used a cold chisel at that point to remove the race from its pocket.

That is what I am afraid of... Don't want to end up there, but have a feeling that is where we are headed

I used bread believe it or not it works wayyy better than grease just use a deep socket with an extension and keep stuffing it in then when its full tap on the extension and socket with a hammer till it moves a bit then repeat

What a difference having the right tool makes. Got the Loaner pilot bearing puller from autozone and it popped right out with the slide hammer.

Machined up this tool to put the new one in nice and square:
