Pizza Cutters

Bought new tires today

In 40 years of owning Jeeps I cannot think of how many tires I have had, 32s, 33s, 35, 36s. Most of them last about 45K miles, tops. I've also had several old pickups with 235/85R16s ans 7.50R16s. Some on split rims. They all got over 60K miles.

So todays purchase for my Rubicon, 5) 7.50R16s !!

Not 10.50 or 12.50 but 7.50. And 32.5" tall. On 16x6.5 steel rims with 5.25BS.
PizzaCutters !!

$40 less than KO2s, 10# less than KO2s, 15K miles more life.
Save $200 and go 33% further !!

Cost per mile will be half what my KO2s, KM2s were.

Have to cut down the flares... again.
A 2" flare will give full coverage.
I might be as skinny as an SE.

I found some 16x6.5 Rims with a 5.25" Back Space. To test out this combination.
I'm sure I'll like it so now to find some 16x6 alloys.

Where can I find these tires?

I believe Yokohama discontinued them. Tire Rack used to sell them, but that was years ago.
I haven't seen 7.50s in years but somebody overseas is probably still making and selling them for the classic Rover and Land Cruiser folks. Think the closest "modern" equivalent is 235/85-16. Just a fraction shorter and an inch wider.

Edit - I guess I just haven't been looking. There are a few places still making military style 7.50s and BFG is making a KM3.

Good to know there are others out there. I was referring only to the Yokohama Y742S that the OP installed.

Very African safari, very cool… just put some stock fender flares and call it good.

I would like to join the pizza cutter TJ club. I haven't been able to find any old rims. Can anyone send me a link to buy new? Also let's talk tires. My local tire shop told me to find the tires that work for me here:

https://www.cokertire.com/tires.htm...PDeNCboeaG7bIat9DpC4OuPmoLvkzKqQaAgdVEALw_wcB

then he would be able to install/balance em for me. Can anyone recommend a tire made in USA or a reputable country? Diameter 28~31" with 29~30" preferred. This is a difficult task at hand lol

What size wheels do you have now? 15"? 16"?

If 15", try 30x9.50 or 235/75R15 (28.9" x 9.3"). Also military NDCC bias ply 7.00-15 (29.50" x 7.8")

If 16", which was the wheel diameter on CJs back in the day, check out: 235/85R16 (31.7" x 9.3"), 255/85R16 (33.1" x 10"), Military style NDCC bias ply 7.00-16 (31.10" x 7.6")

If you want to try 17" wheels, look at 235/80R17 tires (31.8" x 9.3")

If you want 15" rims you can use stock Dodge Dakota rims from 87-90, or there abouts.

But this can look a little small with a lift.

If you want 16" rims the only sources I have found are dual lug pattern. Which I guess I might break down and buy. There was a single lug pattern from Stockton Wheels but they seem to be out of business.

Here's my Jeep photoshopped with 4 wheels. It looks good but I don't like that dual lug pattern.

Tires are not too bad if you want that old bias ply look with a deep mud tread. The tire shown here is a Deestone 7.5 -16, which I purchased on Walmart.com.
