This is under the passenger side most forward body mount. The same spot on the driver side is just a hole about 1/2 inch or so.

I plan to drill this out but was curious as to what it could be from?

That is where the front brace of the auto trans skid bolts to the frame on 2003 - 2006 models. Previous owner probably removed skid when lifting Jeep.

Thanks, I never knew I was missing anything there. So that is likely a broken bolt and some kind of frame insert? Should I look to replace that skid?

I pulled out the 6" lift that was on the jeep and went to 3". The Jeep has a TC drop and a SYE with double cardon shaft so I had planned to get rid of the TC drop. Maybe it would fit after I did that?

Found these, makes sense now.
Rivnut Kit

I'll see if I can find a used skid and replace it.

Awesome response. as I just broke off a frame stud (original) on the passenger side step bracket at the frame.....snapped right off after soaking with " PB Blaster", just wanted a quick fix as the bracket is loose now....putting new NERF bars on in October....I did find that the other studs at already broken loose....the Rivnuts Kit is a great answer...👍 Forum is always the best "Google"...👌

Not really. We've been selling nutsert kits equivalent to OEM for many years longer than they have been in business. We get ours from the manufacturer that made/makes them for Chrysler. The MOQ is painful since we have to buy them 10,000 at a time, but I prefer these in the OEM flavor.

Not that you should buy ours, but merely to address that the forum being even close to Google is a bit inaccurate.

Thanks Blaine,
I'll order from you.

Wow...got to close to our feelings...LOL....get some helmet on...it was just a comment on the actual repair type..I am no Google political fan at all, but it certainly is a good resource too...

No one addressed how you get that broke ass bolt out. Is it even possible to drill bit that out or do you have to plasma torch a hole around the entire thing, reweld plate then put the rivnut back in that same location?

Punch it upward which will unset the nutsert. That should give enough room to gently drill the flange off with an 11/16" drill bit and then you can fish those bits out of the frame. The OEM hole is 11/16" so the bit just cuts the flange off. And I didn't even have to use Google to figure that out.
