So, for a while now, I’ve had only one speed on my blower.

In the past, when the resistor pooped out, I had the same speed on all the switch positions.

This time, the motor will only blow with the switch in one position (low). In any other position, the blower doesn’t move any air at all.

So, either it’s the resistor again with a new manifestation of its malady, or I need a new control module (yay me- not available from 3rd parties, only the dealer ($250) and only 6 available nationwide).

I have an extra resistor laying around so I’ll try that first, but I’m not feeling confident.

Good times.

How many times has your resistor crapped out on you? I don't think that's normal for it to happen more than maybe once in 7-10 years (if that).

Seems like you might have another issue that keeps causing it to blow.

Well, 1 time each in 3 different TJ’s over the last ~10 years or so.

If I kept feeding this one resistors, I’d get awfully suspicious!

Oh, I see. So at least it's not the same TJ, otherwise you'd have a bigger problem.

Could be cheaply made parts too. I usually try to stay with older brand names that have been around for years. But those can be a gamble too these days.

Rock Auto seems to have several different ones in both 4 and 5 blade versions. (my go to place online for parts)

No- not the resistor, those are a dime a dozen.

I’m talking about the switch in the dash. As I understood it, It used to be 3 individual units on the back of the selector panel. In 04, they moved to a single point connection so the whole panel has to be replaced. That’s the part that seems to be hard to find.

I’m going to swap out the resistor today and see if that fixes it, but I’m not confident.

Aaaand the dealer can’t get the switch now.

Not available from Moparpartswebstore either.

Awesome.

You might be lucky, there is one in the Parts For Sale right now, not sure if it’s the same but there’s one listed.

So was it the right part? @BoldlyGoing ? My blower is only pushing air on the third level. Wondering if I should try checking the resistor? Mines an 00 sport.

In my case it was the switch. Not the resistor.

Generally, if it’s the resistor, you get the same speed on 3&4 or 2,3,&4.

If it doesn’t work at all on a few spots, it may be the switch.

East fix whichever the issue

Just three is working. Ironically or maybe not, the stereo was acting up right before my blower started doing this. Thanks for the help.

What a bunch of whining!
It's a JEEP. Jeeps don't need no stinking heater.

Seriously, The only time I ran into a similar situation was with my Honda Prelude SI, that needed an expensive ( $300.00 +) thingy in the throttle assembly that Honda might but probably couldn't find.
So my mechanic looked around and found a "Honda Only" salvage place that sold it to him for around $100.00.

Maybe there is a Jeep (name your model) Salvage place you can find.
