PSC hydro assist install

Alright, out of the box first question. Where is the “steering torsion bar” on a jeep TJ? Google produced ads by Currie.
As I understand from what Blaine told me when he helped with my install, it's inside the steering gearbox itself.

So I found a small cooler with 1/2” NPT fittings and AN 6 fittings. I can adapt to the 3/8” or 5/16” return line to make everything clean.

This seems like a very small cooler, with restricted fittings (i.e. -6AN). Of course I'm only basing this on Blaine's recommendations, which included:
  • -12AN feed line to the pump
  • -8AN return line
  • -8AN 16" Single Pass heat sink cooler

I don’t really want them to design a plug and play system. I did not request that they list a hydro assist on there site that is TJ specific. That said, they do have (2) listed. I bought one. When I talked to a “expert” there, he never mentioned a cooler. However using my own deduction and ir heat gun, I decided to ask here.

Now that I realize you are actually speaking of a custom system for my TJ, I will reread until I understand what you are saying. I’m not saying you are not clear, it is my lack of expertise on the current subject.

Fluid flow is fluid flow. You can make the system more restrictive or less restrictive. We prefer less restrictive since things tend to have fewer issues that way. Doesn't mean a more restrictive system won't work, they do, just not every time.

How hard is it to pull the grill to get to the V bar?

I was able to put the my trans cooler there without pulling the grill, just the DS headlight.

I may put the cooler down by the frame. I have enough room. I am concerned about blocking flow to the radiator and AC condenser.
 
Some more progress!! I should have everything buttoned up and ready for some testing this week. I bought the same cooler that I used for my trans. Found a good location too.

I did the ram shorten mod too I used a countersink to clock the rear heim so it is oriented vertically and tight.

Putting it in the lower Y, drivers tie rod is tight and would take more work. Plus it hides the ram. I am not going through all this work so no one can see it.

I put some cap screw washers in between the rod bracket to give a little more mis alignment/flex. They are thin in both directions, so I added two on each side.

Today I cut 1/2” off the bottom of the supplied brackets. This will make the install a better fit with less worries about hitting something up top

I went lock to lock to check for binding and ram bottom out. Also did a four corner lift to see that nothing touched or bound. In all tests, the ram was movable by hand on the hiems. The rod side brackets are just tacked in case any binding or hitting was encountered. All looked good
