It'll be interesting to see what the shop does to fix it, I'm sure it'll be fine whatever route they take. It's just a connector and I'm sure pretty much any repair shop has replaced one before.
How about a link to one of those other coils. Not that I'm looking for one but, hey, you never know when those will be the only ones available.
And yeah, I'm serious about that even though a Hemi should fix more issues than an LS. Or did I mean "create more issues"? I think you get some of both either way.
I wouldn't blow the price too far out of proportion, our coil packs rarely fail from what I've heard. It would be fun to pull plug wires and swap plugs quick but the price difference isn't a big deal if the part never fails. Trying to be somewhat level headed about this overall.
@primetime4 , I did a manual to auto swap a couple months back and took all of the engine wiring out of the donor harness. I have the coil pack plug and plenty of wiring connected to it. You can have it for the cost of shipping.
*edit*
The wires have some grime on them, but other than that the connector and wires are useable. View attachment 322801
Hey - thanks for this but I went ahead and asked the shop to replace the plug Thursday morning. If not I definitely would have taken you up on this.
Shop originally swapped in the new coil rail with no issues and the misfire codes went away which is good. Not sure how the mechanic managed to remove the plug but it just shows how crafty the professionals can be. I asked about my plug and they said it looked like it was worked over but still worked. Not satisfied knowing what I did to it I asked if they could replace it and they said sure. $59 for a new plug and $100 in labor later I feel whole again. That might sound like a lot but I was so happy it could be replaced that I jumped on it.
Thanks everyone for the input. That viper conversion actually sounds cool to me. If the original rail didn’t last 20 years I might consider that.
Regardless, this seems to have cleared up my misfire issues but still need to get it above 3100 rpm to confirm.
