Question about bearing caps

I am installing an air locker in my rear Dana 44 and when I pulled it apart, I see that the stamps on the carrier bearing caps show that the caps are on tje opposite sides. I assume the PO must have had them off, but I bought it with 57k miles and it appears to be all original, so I don't know why they would have had the carrier out. I have driven 33k miles since i bought it. Would you recommend putting the caps back the way they have been for the last 33k miles or would you change them back to tbe presumably original orientation based upon the stamps. You can see the sideways V on the housing and the upside down V on the cap.

The other side is also clearly switched, right side up V on the housing and sideways V on the cap. Based on the markings, the caps are switched left to right and upside down, meaning that the out side edge of each cap is still oriented tot eh out side of the bearings, but ech is on the opposite side.
