I've been a long time lurker on this site and have always found a ton of useful information so I thought I'd finally make a post and get some opinions on something. I live in Virginia and just went in for a safety inspection. I also needed a left rear axel seal and didnt have the time to mess with it so I had them do the left and right rear seals, bearings and a diff service. I got a call saying that I passed inspection but that I need to replace broken front sway bar links. I told them I'd take care of it. I hadn't noticed anything wrong with them and had just changed the oil the day before and was checking stuff out while I was under there. So, here's my question. I put the sway bar links on 2 years ago after I put a 2.5" BB on. I had the work done on the rear end and picked the Jeep up in a hurry to get home so I could get to work on time for the night shift. Grabbed it just before they closed. Turned into the neighborhood and it felt like I was driving with disconnects, disconnected. I pulled up to the house and looked to see that my front sway bar was hanging down and both the studs were still attached but loose from the top bushings of the links. Were they already bad and when they put it on the lift they just popped through the polyurethane bushing or is there something else going on? I've been doing inspections there for a while and have gotten a couple sets of sets of tires but I've never had a shop do any work on my jeep before. Now I'm questioning my trust for them. What do you think? I stopped by after work this morning and asked the manager to come take a look because I wanted to understand the situation. He said no but that they'd replace them for $209. That didn't sit well. I have an excuse to upgrade now so that's good but it felt weird. Anyone have experience with jacking up a jeep and having the link pull right through the bushing? I've broken 'em off before but... What do you think? It's a 2005 LJ 150k miles. I've had it 10 years. Mild to minimal off-roading. Thanks.
